1. THE RETURN OF ELLIE BLACK by Emiko Jean
I read a good amount of thrillers and I’m almost always deeply unimpressed by the “shocking” twists and turns. This book was not a disappointment. It was dark, quick-paced journey that I’d recommend to any lover of thrillers who is anxious for a book that breaks the mold.
2. OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH
This is a show about pirates, including the infamous Black Beard, who you have probably heard of, and the Gentleman Pirate, Stede Bonnet, who you probably haven’t heard of. It is a ridiculous and fun romp and the soundtrack is absolutely killer.
3. DID RACHAEL HATE THAT?
One of my favorite things about being friends with my friend Rachael is that she watches a lot of movies and TV and she is a reliable recommendation source. Over the last year plus, she’s been sharing her couch content consumption on Instagram, providing short and insightful reviews. She’s recently taken that process to the next level and started a Substack, and while I wasn’t doing a lot of work before to find out what to watch next, my effort level now is nearly none.
4. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE SUPERFOOD FACIAL CLEANSER
I made a handful of skincare routine changes a while back and incorporating this daily cleanser into my routine was one of them. I never had massive breakouts, but I’ve always had some acne, and this, plus a more intense skin hydration routine, seems to have allowed me to enter my 40s without the skin woes of a child. Plus, if vegetables are good for my body, that probably also means they’re good for my skin right?
5. ZOLOFT
I’m pretty sure I’m somewhere on the ADHD spectrum as focusing on anything for any amount of time is near impossible, but I’ve also always been an anxiety girly. I started therapy back in October for a few reasons. First, last year was a rough one and second, because I’ve got some pretty big life changes coming up in the next year or so, and I wanted to get my brain right before I jump and hope a net appears. Along with that came a Zoloft prescription and so far, it’s been great. The most terrible level of my anxiety has been eliminated and while I sometimes still get anxious and stressed about things, it’s on a much, much smaller and more reasonable level.
